Shrubs

Shrubs can add a more permanent structure to your landscape. They present a backdrop for border plants like annuals, perennials, and bulbs during warmer seasons and carry their structure through the winter without dying to ground. They should be utilized along foundations, in borders, or as hedging or barriers along property lines. Frankly gardeners can tuck a shrub into just about every spot in the garden from full sun to full shade. They are easy to care for and provide year around texture, shape and color to the garden.

Shrubs can be evergreen or deciduous. Evergreen shrubs come in every shade of green and also numerous variegated selections for added foliage interest with splashes of yellow, cream, or white. Wight’s stocks all the classic deciduous shrubs for spring and summer bloom followed by fall colors as well as all the latest introductions from the “Color Choice” line by Proven Winners. Most shrubs will flower, some of which are fragrant and some of which are attractive to hummingbirds, bees and butterflies. Many produce showy berries that are nutritious for birds and wildlife. No matter what time of the year, you can find a shrub that will bloom in the Pacific Northwest – even in the middle of winter. Let’s get planting!
